Chalo, seedhi baat — Class 12 Chemistry trips students up not because it's hard, but because it's three different subjects wearing one name. Physical wants formulas, Inorganic wants memory, Organic wants logic. Revise all three the same way and you'll drown. This guide — and the NK formula sheet behind it — sorts each branch the way it actually needs to be revised.
📌 What's in this guide
How Class 12 Chemistry Marks Are Actually Split
The CBSE Class 12 Chemistry theory paper is 70 marks across 10 chapters. Here's the branch-wise weightage that should decide where your revision hours go:
| Branch | Main chapters | Approx. marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Chemistry | Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics | ~23 |
| Inorganic Chemistry | d- & f-Block, Coordination Compounds | ~19 |
| Organic Chemistry | Haloalkanes, Alcohols/Phenols/Ethers, Aldehydes/Ketones/Acids, Amines, Biomolecules | ~28 |
| Total | 10 chapters | 70 |
Physical Chemistry — The Formula Core
This is the branch where a formula sheet earns its price. Physical is pure application — if you can recall the formula, the numerical solves itself.
1Solutions
2Electrochemistry
3Chemical Kinetics
Inorganic Chemistry — The Memory Core
Inorganic isn't about formulas — it's about facts, trends and colours. You can't derive these; you have to recall them. A well-organised sheet turns scattered facts into a scannable table.
4d- and f-Block Elements
5Coordination Compounds
Organic Chemistry — The Reaction Core
Organic is the biggest scorer (~28 marks) and the most logical. It's not memorising — it's pattern recognition: which reagent does what, and why. The sheet lists the named reactions and conversions that repeat every year.
6Haloalkanes & Haloarenes
7Alcohols, Phenols & Ethers
8Aldehydes, Ketones & Carboxylic Acids
9Amines
10Biomolecules

How to Revise Class 12 Chemistry the Right Way
1. Split by branch, not by chapter
Revise all Physical together (formula drills), all Inorganic together (fact tables), all Organic together (reaction maps). Mixing branches confuses your recall.
2. Organic = make a reaction map
For each functional group, note what it converts to and from, with the reagent. The NK sheet already does this — that's the fastest way to lock Organic.
3. Inorganic = daily 10-minute fact drill
Colours, oxidation states, and exceptions fade fast. Read the Inorganic pages daily in the last month — little and often beats one long session.
4. Keep an "error list"
One page of the mistakes you repeat — a wrong reagent, a flipped acidity order, a missed sign in Nernst. Read only this in the final week. It routinely saves 5+ marks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many chapters are there in Class 12 Chemistry for CBSE 2026-27?
There are 10 chapters, grouped into three branches — Physical (Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics), Inorganic (d- & f-Block, Coordination Compounds) and Organic (Haloalkanes, Alcohols/Phenols/Ethers, Aldehydes/Ketones/Acids, Amines, Biomolecules).
Which branch carries the most marks in Class 12 Chemistry?
Organic Chemistry carries the largest share (~28 of 70 marks), followed by Physical (~23) and Inorganic (~19). Organic is also the most rule-based, so it gives the fastest score improvement.
Is a formula sheet useful for Chemistry if it's not all formulas?
Yes. The NK Chemistry sheet covers Physical formulas, Inorganic fact-tables, and Organic named reactions — all three branches — so it works as a full revision tool, not just a formula list.
How many named reactions should I learn for Class 12 Organic?
Roughly 40 named reactions and conversions cover the bulk of Organic scoring questions — Wurtz, Finkelstein, Aldol, Cannizzaro, Hoffmann bromamide, Gabriel, and others. The formula sheet flags these separately.
Can I score 90+ in Class 12 Chemistry using this sheet?
The sheet alone won't cross 90+, but it's the single biggest revision accelerator. Combined with NCERT line-by-line reading and previous-year questions, it's what pushes you from 78 to 92+.
Is the Chemistry formula sheet available as PDF?
Yes — both A5 printed format and instant PDF (from ₹99), delivered to your email within seconds of payment.
Is NCERT enough for Class 12 Chemistry 90+?
Yes, if every in-text reaction, example, and back-exercise is solved. NCERT is the base; a formula/reaction sheet cuts revision time by around 70% in the final 30 days.
